Description
The body:
The body is 3d printed Titanium(Ti6Al4V) made in Germany. We believe it is the material with the best features (physical properties) for a phono cartridge body. It is very rigid, strong, stiff, hard, as we want it to be, but this makes it very difficult to work with as well. It is heavy, much heavier than aluminum and plastic. So we had to make a design with complex geometries, that helps the cantilever to do its extremely difficult job confidently, but also keep the weight low, at only 10.4 grams. This enables it to work with the majority of tonearms.
The cantilever:
The cantilever is made of ruby (made in Japan). A very rigid material, ideal for cantilever. It is attached directly onto the body with a very short and strong thin wire. This makes it easy for the cantilever to transfer the signal to the coils accurately, without any loss.
Stylus tip:
The shape of the diamond tip is Micro Ridge. It is made in Japan.
Our microridge stylus (or, MR stylus), as its name suggests, has a miniscule curve radius that is impossible in other styli. It has a belt-like (microridge) shape with its width being just a few microns and it also has the appropriate height.
In most styli, the curvature increases due to wear, consequently reducing performance. However, our microridge has a minuscule curve radius that is not altered by abrasion, so the initial performance quality is maintained throughout its lifespan. When using our MR stylus, you
can also develop a perfect playback system, with increased dynamic range of sound, more accurate, high quality recording, and high density mechanical recording.
V Coil Design:
The idea started when we tried to figure out how to mount the coils on a phono cartridge directly onto the cantilever, as closely as possible on the stylus tip rather than at the end of the cantilever, and avoid the aluminum part of the cantilever. The structure of most cantilevers in the market involves an aluminum tube between the coils and the stylus tip. As a result some of the advantages from the exceptional physical properties of the ruby are lost.
We solved this problem with the VMF design. We created two separate single layer handmade coils and mounted them directly on top of the ruby as a V shape. Then we placed axially on those coils, two separate big powerful neodymium magnets to create two separate magnetic fields, one for each coil.
The coils are made of a very fine, much thinner than a human hair, high purity copper wire made in Germany.
Connection PINS:
The pins are high quality golden plated nickel made in USA. The thickness of the golden layer is 20u, which represents the quality of the connection that can be achieved. The diameter of the pins is 1.27 mm or 0.05 inch.
