Description
The body:
The body is 3d printed Aluminum (AlSi10Mg) made in Germany. Aluminum is strong and stiff but it is also a light weight material. That makes it one of the best materials for phono cartridge bodies. It is a complex design as it is using V coils design technology, but thanks to modern computers and the 3d printing aluminum machines, we were able to create it.
The cantilever:
The cantilever is made of Boron (made in Japan). A very rigid material, ideal for cantilever. It is attached directly onto the body with a very short and strong thin wire. This makes it easy for the cantilever to transfer the signal to the coils accurately, without any loss.
Stylus tip:
The shape of the diamond tip is Shibata. Made in Japan. A type of line contact stylus. Its reproducing frequency band is wider than the elliptical stylus and it can trace a high frequency range. By extending the contact line between the sound groove and the tip, the stylus pressure per unit area can be reduced, prolonging the life of both the record and the stylus tip.
V Coil Design:
We came up with the idea when trying to figure out how to mount the coils on a phono cartridge directly onto the cantilever, as closely as possible on the stylus tip rather than at the end of the cantilever, and avoid the aluminum part of the cantilever. The structure of most cantilevers in
the market involves an aluminum tube between the coils and the stylus tip. This results in losing some of the advantages of the exceptional physical properties of the Boron.
We solved this problem with the V axis design. We created two separate single layer handmade coils and mounted them directly on top of the Boron as a V shape. Then we placed axially on those coils, two separate big powerful neodymium magnets to create two separate magnetic fields, one for each coil.
The coils are made of a very fine, much thinner than a human hair, high purity copper wire made in Germany.
Connection PINS:
The pins are high quality golden plated nickel made in USA. The thickness of the golden layer is 20u, which represents the quality of the connection that can be achieved. The diameter of the pins is 1.27 mm or 0.05 inch.
